Pioneer Nigerian filmmaker, Francis Adetunji Oladele, who passed on in the early hours of June 22, 2015 at an Ibadan hospital, after a brave battle with prostate cancer, will be buried on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at his premises in Oyo Town.
Born to Oyo parentage, on August 30, 1932, the rather adventurous youngster first worked in Nigeria as a photo-journalist with Daily Times of Nigeria where he introduced the then very popular column, Social Diary. He traveled to the United States of America in 1955 at the young age of 22 to study photography at the popular New York Institute of Photography.
In 2012, Francis Oladele was conferred with the iREP Documentary Film Forum's Lifetime Achievement award, which earns him a place in the prestigious iREP International Fim Festival's Hall of Fame.
iREP Documentary Film Forum in conjunction with his associates and friends, will gather to celebrate his life and times on July 3rd at the Freedom Park in Lagos.
