Stephen Owoahene Acheampong

A theologian and a sociologist, Stephen Owoahene Acheampong is currently a Research Fellow/Lecturer and the Coordinator of the Religions and Philosophy Section of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon. He is also currently the Academic Coordinator, Trent-in-Ghana Program (Trent University, Peterborough, Canada, and Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon).
He holds a Master's and a PhD in the Interdisciplinary Study of Theology and Sociology from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, a Licentiate (STL) and a Doctor of Sacred Theology (STD) from Regis College, University of Toronto. He has taught at the New College, the Regis College, and the Department of Philosophy, all in the University of Toronto, Canada, and also at the St. Paul's Seminary, Sowutuom, Accra.
His interests are in the areas of religion, culture, development, philosophy, health, illness, healing and medicine in Africa, social ethics/justice issues, and the African Diaspora. He is the coordinator of the African Thinkers Project, UG-Carnegie/Institute of African Studies Project
