Samuel Duh was born at Domeabra, Asante Akyen, in Ghana. He left Ghana when he was a teenager in 1971 for the United States, and completed secondary school at Mainland Senior High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.
 
He then pursued further education in science and medicine, obtaining a BSc degree in Biology at Duke University; MSc in Microbiology at North Carolina Central University; MD in Medicine at University of North Carolina Medical School; and MPH in Epidemiology at University of Oklahoma.
 
Dr. Duh has published widely in leading medical journals and is the author of several books. His first novel, One More Time, was published in 1991, and his latest novel, God is too Busy, was published last year.
 
Dr. Duh worked in several clinical and public health establishments in several states in the USA and returned to Ghana in 2001 to work for CARE International as HIV/AIDS and Health Advisor for Ghana, Togo, and Benin. He is currently the Country Director for Global Health Systems Solutions in Ghana.
