Jean-Claude Barny's cinema clearly asserts its Caribbean identity, halfway between the European arthouse cinema and the American entertainment industry. He directs Nèg Maron, in 2005. This first feature film highlights the fundamental problems of an idle Caribbean youth with no future.
In 2007, he directed Tropiques Amers, a six episodes historical series, which returns to the dark and ignored hours of a late eighteenth century France where slaves would develop the sugar economy.
In 2010, he produced three commercials with the world champion Usain Bolt in Jamaica and then developed two full length movies with Prod Vertigo and Les Films d'Ici production companies.
In 2012 and 2013, he devoted himself to writing and developing his next feature film West Indies Gang produced by Les Films d'Ici and Syncroteam Films.
In 2014, he undertakes the development of a telefilm produced by Lizland Films: Rose et le Soldat.
