Celebrating Accra Arts Festival 2014 opens March 2
 
The 2014 edition of Celebrating Accra Arts Festival (CAAF), which is set to flood the city with diverse performances, will on Sunday March 2 take off with a book launch at the Artistes Alliance Gallery in Accra.
HE Margit Thomsen, the Danish Ambassador in Accra will launch a book Titled Kumasi Realism - 1951 to 2007: An African Modernism, which was authored by the acclaimed painter, art historian and curator Dr. Atta Kwami. 
The Obra Spot, which is located at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, will on Saturday March 8 rock with the Australia based Ghanaian star Afro Moses, who will perform as part of activities marking the International Women's Day celebrations in Accra.
Also on stage will be Akablay and his Abiza Band who performed to enthusiastic cheers at various festivals in Denmark between September and October 2013.
On Wednesday March 12, writer / performance poet Nii Ayikwei Parkes will read portions from his novel "Tail of the Blue Bird" while renowned ethnomusicologist Prof JH Nketia will deliver a lecture on "Creative Transformation of Ghana's Traditional Music at the British Council Hall.
An exhibition of artworks by environmental artist Tei Huagie and designer coffin maker Eric Anang would be showcased at the Dei Centre on Friday March 14 whereas the National Dance Company will perform "Bukom", a dance drama choreographed by Prof F. Nii Yartey at the National Theatre on Friday 14 and Saturday Marc 15.
Ehalakasa poets and students from some secondary schools in the city will perform at selected street corners and end up at the National Theatre with a performance on International Poetry Day Friday March 21.
Youth Home Cultural group, Wuza Wuza Dance Ensemble and designers will perform traditional / contemporary dance and showcase fashion from Northern Ghana at the Alliance Française on Wednesday March 26.
 Dance Factory will on Monday March 31 pull the curtain down on the festival with a contemporary dance piece choreographed by Frank Sam and Mark Lomotey. Titled "Nkabom", the piece would be performed by able bodies and physically challenged dancers.
DANIDA, Ghana Denmark Cultural Fund, Danish Embassy in Accra, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Goethe-Institut, British Council and the Alliance Française are supporting CAAF 2014, which is being organized by the Institute for Music and Development.
