EntreVues has imposed itself since more than twenty years as the festival of ambitious cinema, combining a first films competition, theme-based retrospectives and tributes. It is also a privileged meeting place for audiences and directors and other professionals of young cinema.

The international competition
EntreVues, the Belfort International Film Festival, was created in 1986 by Janine Bazin to promote young cinema (first, second or third film). Each year, Catherine Bizern, the artistic director, Jean-Sébastien Chauvin and Bertrand Loutte make their choice among a thousand films more or less. The official competition is the result of this worlwide films selection, short or long length, fictions or documentaries : a certain reflection of young cinema, full of invention and also hesitation, but always in search for new frontiers.

The retrospectives
Each year, theme-based retrospectives and tributes are organized. Michelangelo Antonioni, Marco Bellocchio, Michael Cimino, David Cronenberg, Samuel Fuller, Alain Resnais, Paul Schrader, Jerzy Skolimowski, are some of the directors invited in Belfort since twenty years… Each of them making a free and ambitious cinema.

The meetings
The festival is a privileged place for meetings and discussions about cinema and directors' work.

Every evening, between 7.30 and 8.30, directors in competition are invited to discuss with the audience. These conversations are leaded by Jean-Sébastien Chauvin and Bertrand Loutte, from the selection committee.
