Spotlight on the legend Mohamed El Khalfi (Khouribga African FilmFest 2024)
Born on March 2, 1937, in Casablanca, Mohamed El Khalfi is a distinguished Moroccan actor. Renowned for his versatile performances on stage and active involvement in numerous artistic and theatrical endeavors, he has garnered immense adoration from audiences. His authentic acting style has particularly endeared him to viewers, who have grown familiar with him, notably through his portrayal of commissioner or policeman roles in various productions.
Mohamed El Khalfi's first encounter with theater dates back to 1957 in
amateur theater with Taieb Siddiqui, Ahmed Taieb Laalaj, and others. That
was the beginning of his professional career with well-known names in
the theatrical field. In 1959, Mohamed El Khalfi founded the "Popular
Theater" troupe, and later the "United Artists" troupe, which presented
seven plays, including the first one titled "The Cultivated Family," in which
the actress Touria Jabrane played the lead role.

Mohamed El Khalfi was also one of the first to join television upon its launch in Morocco in 1962, where he presented the first television series titled "Sacrifice," followed by "The Bread Seller."
Among the notable works of sitcoms, plays, telefilms, and cinema films in which Mohamed El Khalfi participated, we can mention:
The play "The False Press/Assahafa Almouzawara," "Silence is Forbidden" (1973) by Abdallah Mesbahi, "The Green Light" (1976) by Abdallah Mesbahi, "Dilemma/ Alwarta" (1984) by Mustapha El Khayat, the series by Bouazza El Hakim, "Aouchtam" (1997), the sitcom "Lalla Fatima" ‘here and elsewhere,' by Mohamed Ismail, the film "Life is Beautiful" (2005) by Ibrahim El Khalfi, the film "Life is Beautiful" by Abdallah Mesbahi (2005),
"The Witness/Acchahida" (2005) by Ibrahim Idrissi El Hassani, the sitcom "The Sisters/Lakhwattate," "Queens of the Nation," sitcom "Nest of Girls," "The Brigade," "The Fifth String/ Alwatar Alkhamiss" (2011) by Salma Bergache, and "The Blood of the Betrayed: Addam Almaghdour" (2022) by Adel Fadili.
Currently in 2024, Si Mohamed El Khalfi faces challenges due to declining health owing to his advanced age. This situation hinders his ability to work and keeps him out of the spotlight in recent times.
