Alessandra Speciale è nata a Milano nel 1965. Studia storia e critica del cinema all’Università di Pavia. Dal 1991 si occupa della direzione artistica del Festival del cinema africano di Milano. Dal 1991 al 1999 è caporedattore della rivista Ecrans d’Afrique/African screen. Dal 1999 comincia a scrivere e realizzare soggetti di documentari.

Alessandra Speciale was born in Milan in 1965. She studied film history and criticism at the University of Pavia. Since 1991 she has been artistic director of the African Film Festival in Milan. From 1991 to 1999 she was head editor of the "Ecrans d’Afrique/African screen" magazine. In 1999 she began to write and make documentaries.
