In Algeria, Youcef escapes from a psychiatric asylum at the gates of the desert. He was a fighter and today, years later, he believes he is still a prisoner of the French army. He joins what he thinks is his maquis. He finds the bones of his companions, buries them and promises to go to their families, one after the other, to salute their memory.
