"El oued, l'oued" in Algerian means walking along the river. From the sources on the top of the Atlas of Blida up to the mouth of the Mediterranean a few kilometers from the capital city Algiers, the film travels on foot using a side road to meet an alternate Algerian.
"El oued (The River)" is conceived as a wondering walk, a trip along an Algerian river located in the North-Centre of the country, at the very heart of the main activities of the Algerian state. All along the 60 kilometres of the resourceful Oued El Kebir River up to its mouth, the film tries to explore a micro territory of human landscapes.
