In the summer of 1999 Yaguine and Fodé, two Guinean teenagers on holiday, aspire to a brighter future, studies and new hope for all. Like butterflies lured by the promising but illusive light of Europe, they dream of changing not only their future, but that of all young Africans. They devise a project that they hope will draw the attention of Western leaders to the misfortunes of Africa.

Gahité Fofana recounts the last days of Yaguine Koïta and Fodé Tounkara, found on August 2, 1999 in Brussels, in the landing gear of a SABENA aeroplane. To explain their act, the two youngsters wrote a letter to the "Excellencies, Sirs responsible for Europe", which is a moving appeal for help: "[…] It is for your solidarity and your kindness that we are crying out to you for help in Africa. […] So if you see that we are sacrificing ourselves and exposing our lives, it's because we are suffering too much in Africa and we need you to fight poverty and end the war in Africa. Nonetheless, we wish to study, and we ask you to help us study so that in Africa, we can be like you."
