The radical decrease in precipitation throughout West Africa in the second half of the twentieth century was more than just alarming. The scientific programme for the multidisciplinary analysis of African monsoons (Analyse Multidisciplinaire de la Mousson Africaine, AMMA) seeks to improve the weather and climatic forecasting at different time scales and for different places in West Africa. It is also original in that it addresses the impacts of climate fluctuations and their effects on farming, health and the way of life of the population. The film describes this scientific and human adventure, from the dry season to the rainy season and from the sea to the Sahel. It also shows that scientific transfer can also be a reality between North and South.
