In an old quarter in the medina, an old French veteran, Al Asqri, lives a simple life with his family. His daughter, Samira, works so that his brother Ali, a diabetic, can access his treatment. She is a reader for a blind man who tells her his story. He is a former politician who had been wrongly compromised. When the Moroccan enlisted to fight against the German, he was dismissed.
