The Foundation / Our mission
The Fabienne Colas Foundation (FCF) firmly believes that fiction has the power to influence the evolution, the morals, the habits, the customs, the traditions and the prejudices of a society. The Foundation strongly believes as well that culture is an important factor in social integration and that it plays a key role in the development of a people.

MISSION:
The principal Mission of the Fabienne Colas Foundation is to support and promote Haitian cinema, art and culture in Canada and across the globe.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Training: The Fabienne Colas Foundation (FCF) proudly supports young actors, scriptwriters, producers and any other young amateurs and professionals working in the areas of art and cinema who are striving to improve and excel in their chosen fields. The Foundation regularly organizes training workshops and seminars on the various jobs connected with the world of cinema, providing aspiring cinematographers with the tools they need to learn the trade. The FCF focuses first and foremost on training young people, since they are the leaders of tomorrow. The goal of these workshops is to nourish in each individual a sense of autonomy, responsibility and professionalism, to encourage initiative and creativity, to increase knowledge, and to develop leadership skills as well as a critical mind.

Cultural activities: The Fabienne Colas Foundation carries out many cultural activities (film screenings, dance shows, music shows) throughout the year that attract thousands of people. However, the two events that bring out the greatest number of people is still the Montreal International Black Film Festival, which runs in autumn (www.montrealblackfilm.com)), and Haiti on Fire! that presents several activities indoors and outdoors, evenings of shows and movies under the stars in summer (www.haitienfolie.com)!

Production: The goal of the Fabienne Colas Foundation is to help turn educational, artistic, socio-cultural, televisual and cinematographic projects into reality. The FCF is working towards creating a fund that will financially support, in part or in whole, cultural and cinematographic projects (short, medium and feature-length documentary and fiction films, magazines, poetry collections, theatrical creations, shows, etc.). As soon as the fund is created, the Foundation will launch a contest or a call for tenders one to three times a year in order to receive applications for full or partial funding. The recipients will be selected based on the quality and originality of their project, on how accurate and realistic their budget is, and on the funds available in the Foundation's program. The recipients will be selected by an artistic committee.

Promotion: Another goal of the Fabienne Colas Foundation is to promote black cinema and culture around the world, and to make its actors even more famous on the international scene. But above all, it hopes to encourage, recognize and celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of artists working in the cultural arena and in the film industry by organizing activities, film festivals, workshops, internships, contests and awards ceremonies. These promotional activities are supported by the Foundation's website and, soon, by its cultural magazine, its biennial directory (every two years), as well as by any and all means possible and imaginable available to the Foundation.
